Savin 9922dp

The Savin 9922dp is a monochrome laser printer, scanner, fax and copier. It is a complete solution to the everyday document handling needs of the average office.

At 22 pages per minute, the 9922dp is quick enough for all but the most impatient users.. The duplex copies and prints are reproduced in high quality at 600 dpi, with precise text and crisp edges.

Image reproduction is on par with other lasers at this price point. Edges were stark, grayscale good and spread even. The quality is good for normal use and are of high enough quality for basic marketing materials.

Scanning is the same. Scan being reproduced faithfully and at a speed of around a page every 3 seconds. Faxing is fully featured as you would expect. The G3 modem transmits a page every 2 seconds at 33.6kb is you use compression. It has enough memory to be able to keep 100 sheets in you run out of paper, and can be scheduled to send faxes at any time of day or night.

Reliability is the main attraction of this machine, and where its strength lies. With the backing of parent company Ricoh, the 9922dp is quite easy to manage over the long term. Overall cost of ownership is low, and Savin has gained a name for the durability of its products.

The two paper drawers hold 250 sheets each, and the feeder holds a further 50. It can be connected via USB or network port, and setup and administration is as easy as can be. Like others in the Savin stable, introducing this device to a workgroup takes little time as most is done automatically.

The consumables are easy to replace, being accessed from a flap on the side. The cartridges and drums are readily available online and are quite good value for money. A single high yield toner cartridge is good for 11,000 pages and sells for $19 at Quikshiptoner.com.

The Savin 9922dp is a solid performer that will still be working away long after many, more expensive devices would have worn out. Ownership costs are low enough to be as attractive, and the print quality is of a standard to suit most needs.
